Visit our shelter at 30 Lemnos Street, Shenton Park, Western Australia from 11am to 4pm, 7 days-a-week excluding some public holidays. The organisation employs a pro-life policy, ensuring that no animal under their care is euthanised unless advised by a veterinary surgeon. The association’s activities are driven by their understanding that these lovable creatures are entitled to the same unconditional love and respect that they give to their owners. Our pro-life policy means that no healthy animals are euthanised. Each year we save over 1000 dogs, finding them new homes and families. Adopting a dog from the Dogs’ Refuge Home means that you’re helping other dogs in our care. As a not-for profit, we solely use our funding to support the dogs at the Dogs’ Refuge Home. At the Dogs' Refuge Home in Shenton Park we love dogs and are committed to saving them.
Dogs Refuge Home (WA) Inc
With some spare time on my hands and a need for fitness I've decided that for every dollar donated to this campaign I'll be doing 10 pushups. If we meet the goal of 500 dollars over the coming weeks I'll be ecstatic, and if it goes further than that then the sky's the limit. The Dogs' Refuge Home in Shenton Park is a cause close to my heart, and one that does amazing work day in and day out for mistreated and abandoned dogs.
And with so many abandoned dogs desperate for a second chance at a happy life, please consider visiting us before you go to a pet shop or breeder. Meet our range of canine inspired gourmet indulgence hampers. A portion of our sales will go directly to The Dog’s Refuge Home. As one of the oldest animal welfare organisations in Australia, Dogs Refuge Home has continued to grow over 80 years. Each year we save over 1000 dogs from hardship, such as abuse, neglect or loss of an owner. We remain true to our fundamental belief that dogs are entitled to the same love and respect that they give us.

With your help they can continue this work and continue to help displaced canines back into our community. Dogs Refuge Home is a not-for-profit animal shelter located in Shenton Park, offering dogs a welcoming community until they are placed in safe homes. Our message is that rescue is the best breed, promoting animal adoption over breeders and pet stores. There is a big need for training in dogs in the rescue community, as in most cases, rescue dogs have no prior training.

Welcome to the Dogs’ Refuge Home of WA We’re committed to giving dogs all over WA a second chance at life. In fact we save hundreds of unwanted, neglected, abandoned and abused dogs every year. Please note we only adopt dogs within Western Australia and will not freight interstate or intrastate.
Adoption gives dogs in unfortunate circumstances a new home. This means dogs that have been through hardships such as; abuse, neglect, loss of an owner or no longer being wanted are given a second chance at life. The Refuge encourages fostering as an alternative due to the organisation’s increasing need for specialist care to be given to the dogs. Fostering means that while you take in and care for the dog at your premises, Dogs’ Refuge Home remains its legal owner. As one of the larger refuges, the organisation is incredibly grateful to all their major sponsors that include the Government of Western Australia, City Farmers, the Tate Family Foundation, and Advance.

The aim of Dogs’ Refuge Home is to rescue, provide temporary care, and find permanent suitable homes for lost, legally impounded, or unwanted dogs. The Refuge also offers dog and puppy training classes, boarding services, and merchandise. The association is run by a board made up of dog-loving professionals who have been previously involved in adopting, fundraising, volunteering, and fostering dogs at the Refuge in one way or another.
We require all adoptions to be made face to face at our shelter located in Shenton Park. At any one time, the Dogs’ Refuge Home has around 100 dogs in their care that they offer up for adoption as well as fostering, especially in the case of animals with special needs. Pooches for adoption undergo comprehensive veterinary checks as well as behavioural assessments. This process is done to limit the uncertainties around the adoption. Unlike other animal welfare organisations, it is a condition that the adopter is either a permanent resident or citizen of Australia.

So, we work to help train rescue dogs with either behavioral, physiological, or basic obedience training needs. This way, rescue dogs have a better chance of successfully being adopted in their forever homes successfully. And, those already adopted have a better chance of staying in the homes they are placed.
Every donation, however large or small, can help Dogs’ Refuge Home. Regular donations are encouraged by joining their Caring Friends Programme. Donations in kind are currently not taken, as there is impending redevelopment construction work on their premises. On their Donate page, you can find information on kennel sponsorship, gifts in memory, gifts to celebrate, starting your own fundraiser, the Refuge’s wish list, bequests, and their list of benefactors on their Donate page. We follow strict guidelines to ensure the best care and wellbeing for our dogs. Needs to review the security of your connection before proceeding.
